By all accounts, Abby Holden has it all. She’s the mother of a beautiful teenager and the wife of a beloved high school football coach. And all it took to achieve her charmed life was her greatest act of betrayal.

Axel America and the U.S. Election Race

Click to get your copy!

Book Description:

Is it 1776, or 1984? No, it’s 2016 – though Axel isn’t sure.

Axel single-handedly runs Truth Live, a patriotic freedom-loving news site with a cult following. His obsession with the New World Order tests his relationship with his family, and in election year, those bonds are about to snap.

Rump is a major shareholder of Faux News, a multi-billionaire and possible future President. His name is known in every city and he has the CIA on retainer. However, his corporate machinations are under threat from Axel , who soon discovers the dark forces he’s been warning about are coming for him.

Set against the 2016 American election, this is the hilarious tale of a conspiracy theorist leading his family down the Illuminati rabbit hole, two children pushed to breaking point, and a corporate network versus a man of the people, stopping at nothing for total domination.

Note:

With the recent interest in Donald Trump’s audacious run for the U.S. Presidential election, Axel America exposes awareness on the hypothesis that perhaps elections worldwide are not as free as advertised, and perhaps serves a global agenda, rather than nationalised participants. This is a hot topic that has many citizens worldwide watching with baited breath, their hands close to their hearts, and concerns.

Notes:

Sharlin Craig’s Ornaments of Love is a heartwarming children’s book about one family’s Christmas, illustrated by Helen Monwuba. Ayana is a young girl who is very excited about decorating the Christmas tree with her parents, but they seem to be too busy to help her. Disheartened, she is left to put the ornaments on the tree herself. Ayana then watches from afar over the next few weeks as her parents rush to do everything to prepare for Christmas, except spend time with her. Then, the family dog knocks the tree over and breaks all of their precious ornaments, leaving Ayana and her parents to piece together their fond memories and experience true Christmas joy together.

Despite being a bit sad at first, Ornaments of Love is an adorable book for children. Sharlin Craig’s story is simple and straightforward, but still manages to tug on the heartstrings. It exhibits the importance of spending time with family around the holidays, and also includes some touching memories that any family or child could relate to. Helen Monwuba’s illustrations are very nice as well; they are simple and not overdone, but are still expressive and have a very classic look to them. Paired together, the story and illustrations are just delightful.

Ornaments of Love is a great book to read together as a family, whether it is Christmastime or not. It is a charming little story with a great moral behind it, and may even inspire the readers and their families to take their own little strolls down memory lane together, too.

Book Description:

Open the door to one of life’s greatest little secrets—that your point of power is in EVERY choice. Just 2 Choices shows how to transform your everyday, ORDINARY choices into EXTRAORDINARY choices every day—so you can live that EXTRAORDINARY life that you desire… choice by choice by choice. Contains the original, breakthrough, full-color graphics about choice to rapidly accelerate personal growth with instant “I get it!” insights into the quality of your everyday choices. Full-color charts, diagrams and scales—such as the Emotional-Vibrational Color Scale® and Vibrational Tune-up System™—provide immediate, clear, uplifting feedback that shows step-by-step how to make each choice to create the great life that you want in health, wealth, relationships, career and more! Just 2 Choices is a guidebook for everyone—a blueprint for understanding the power of every choice and a roadmap to manifesting the great life that you desire!

Rico Racosky

Whether at the controls of a F16 jet fighter–or now at the controls of a sophisticated jet airliner, Rico Racosky knows that every flight choice he makes is based on one of two choices. He may make multiple split-second decisions as he evaluates the instruments in front of him that show the aircraft’s immediate performance of speed, altitude, and navigation, yet each choice he makes ultimately comes down to a “yes” or “no” input decision based on just two choices. From Rico‘s point of view, all  of life is choice and happens at the speed of choice–a perspective he recently shared at Harvard University as a “choice expert” thought leader guest speaker to Harvard Business School’s Entrepreneurship Clubs.

Choice is the heart of his unique and vital new book, Just 2 Choices…It Is Your Life, which is the forefront of what promises to be a global movement, the “Choice Revolution™.” The book uses a simple, step-by-step system of thought that shows people how to instantly transform their daily, ordinary choices into those powerful extra-ordinary choices that create an extraordinary life! Just 2 Choices un-complicates and demystifies “choice” and shines the bright light of crystal clear thinking to illuminate a path to success for the reader. After all, what keeps most people stuck in life is failing to make Conscious YES Choices, thus allowing their default choice–the NO choice, the one representing the “same old choice” –to continue to run their lives over and over every day.

A More Deadly Union

A More Deadly Union

Click to get your copy!

Book Description:

How far would you go for someone you love?

Someone is threatening Peri Minneopa’s client. The most likely suspect is a man whose past relationship with her client could ruin his chances at being elected mayor.

This would be easier if her boyfriend, Detective Skip Carlton, wasn’t in a coma after being shot. Peri’s been dating him for 10 years, but without a marriage license, she can’t even visit him in the hospital.

She knows better than to interfere with the police’s efforts to find Skip’s shooter, but her case keeps showing up in the middle of their investigation.

Now she’s questioning her skill and her need for independence. What is she willing to do to solve her case and see Skip wake up?

Notes:

A More Deadly Union is the fourth installment of Gayle Carline’s Peri Minneopa mystery series. Peri is a private investigator, who takes on a case from her close friend, Jared, who believes he is being stalked. Years ago, Jared had a homosexual affair with a man named Rick, but now Rick is running for mayor and playing the wholesome family man, and wants Jared to disappear. The tension and aggression escalates dangerously, leaving Peri to navigate a mess of politically fueled scare tactics in order to protect her friend. Meanwhile, her detective boyfriend is in a medically induced coma after an altercation on the job, meaning she has to cope with a difficult case of her own at the same time, and hopefully come out on top.

At first glance, A More Deadly Union seems a bit silly, from the unusual names of some of the characters to the general plot line. However, it is wonderfully written, and much deeper than it appears to be. The characters are fairly complex and many interesting perspectives are explored, including that of a character with mental disabilities. Gayle Carline writes with a good mix of humor, sadness, suspense, and great insight, making A More Deadly Union a delightful literary experience. Also, it is worth mentioning that although A More Deadly Union is the fourth book in a series, it holds well as a stand-alone piece; even without reading the rest of the books first, the characters are introduced and explained well and the storyline is easy to follow. All in all, this was a novel full of surprises, albeit very good ones. It is certainly worth the read, and perhaps the others in the Peri Minneopa series will be too.

Originally critiqued by the staff of AuthorsTalkAboutIt.com.

Gayle Carline

71wccxejgzl-_ux250_

Gayle Carline is a typical Californian, meaning that she was born somewhere else. She moved to Orange County from Illinois in 1978, and landed in Placentia a few years later.

Her husband, Dale, bought her a laptop for Christmas in 1999 because she wanted to write. A year after that, he gave her horseback riding lessons. When she bought her first horse, she finally started writing.

Gayle began writing journalistic pieces for California Riding Magazine, then quickly added “humor columnist” to her resume with a weekly column in her local newspaper, the Placentia News-Times. What she really wanted to do was write mysteries, however, so in 2009 she crossed that off her list with the first of her Peri Minneopa mysteries.

Never at a loss for words or stories, she will continue to write as long as the ideas keep popping into her head. In her spare time, Gayle likes to sit down with friends and laugh over a glass of wine. And maybe plan a little murder and mayhem for the next novel.

The website is Gayle Carline: Humor Columnist, Mystery Author.
